4 Ways to Lighten Up the Holidays

Reading Time: 2 minutes

One of the things we both love about December is all the holiday lights. It gets dark so early, and seeing so many places and spaces aglow warms the heart. We know that December can feel a little chaotic for small business owners between holiday sales and year-end reports. That’s why we’ve come up with four ways to lighten up stress and add some breathing room into your places and spaces. No holiday decorations needed!

  • Put down your phone. It’s not always possible to turn off our phones, though maybe set it so only the most important notifications come through. You could also designate certain times of the day to deal with your messages and stick to those boundaries.
  • Do a little less. See where you can take one or two work-related things off your plate. Perhaps it’s a task you could pause doing for a short time or maybe even delegate to someone else. Whatever you decide, do your best not to replace it with something else.
  • Make a To-Be list. Reflect on this past year. Think of things to be grateful for, appreciative of, delighted in, comforted by, and happy about. Go ahead and add any phrases you like that focus on looking at the positives and achievements that happened in 2022.
  • Take care of YOU. Take time to eat, sleep, and move your body. If making time seems impossible, schedule lunch with a favorite colleague. Venture outside for a walking meeting with some members of your team. Maybe try out a Yoga Nidra nap on YouTube.

We’re feeling festive and wanted a fun way to wrap up the end of 2022. Business is serious stuff, yet it’s always important to stop and enjoy the moment. We made up a little game called Winter Wonders Bingo. The card has ideas of things you can do to finish out the year strong. You can also save it and play the card in the first quarter of 2023.

As always, reach out if you need any help or to ask us how we’re doing on our bingo card. Sending you our warmest wishes for a happy holiday season and new year!

Be well,
Jenny & Kathy
